Welcome to Earth Day The Hague! International Earth Day is celebrated in more than 192 countries worldwide. It is a day to come together, learn, teach, share, network and take action for the earth. After discovering that many Dutch people were not aware of this international movement, a group of dedicated environmentally-minded folks came together to organize an Earth Day event in The Hague in 2015 and followed suit in 2016. After taking a year off, we are back in 2018 planning a great event for people of all ages.
In 2018 we will focus on ways to reduce your ecological footprint, especially in the areas of plastic and trash, diet and shopping choices and energy use. This year we are happy to announce we will be partnering with Duurzaam Bezuuidenhout, who will be showcasing local initiatives in our neighborhood.
What can you expect?
ECO-MARKET: Environmental products, Fairtrade, vegetarian or vegan food as well as non-profit organizations who work to protect the environment in a multitude of ways.
WORKSHOPS & PRESENTATIONS: Hands-on workshops for kids and adults where you can learn to reduce your ecological footprint.
A FESTIVE ATMOSPHERE: The event will be held in the grand hall of the Christus Triumfatorkerk and the surrounding outdoor areas (should the weather provide). Past participants described the event as family-friendly, educational and informative. We plan to follow suit this year!
